How Great Leaders Inspire Change

People don’t follow great leaders because of what they do or what they know.  People are inspired to action by great leaders because of what they believe and how they communicate their beliefs.

In this widely acclaimed TEDtalk seen by 10s of millions worldwide,  Simon Sinek urges effective leaders to push pas the “What” and “How” and start with “Why.”

There are leaders and there are ‘those who lead.’  Leaders hold a position of power or authority.  But ‘those who lead‘ inspire us.  Whether they are individuals or organizations, we follow ‘those who lead‘ not because we have to but because we want to.  We follow ‘those who lead,’ not for them, but for ourselves.  Those who lead and start with ‘why?’ either have the ability to inspire others around them or attract others who can.

“The more people you inspire, the more people will inspire you.”

“If you hire people just because they can do a job, they’ll work for your money. But if you hire people who believe what you believe, they’ll work for you with blood and sweat and tears.” (minute marker 8:07)
